Volunteers

Volunteerism & Meet Our Board

AORTA is built from the bottom up by volunteers who gift a small portion of their time to make sure the event runs smoothly and ensures everyone's safety, including our board members and leadership team. As the saying goes, "many hands make light work". And if each person takes 1 short shift the entire event is covered, and its a great way to meet new people!!!! We have 5 separate groups participants can volunteer with:

Rangers

We aren't the cops and we aren't your mom, but we are here if you need us! Rangers roam the event making sure participants are safe, help to de-escalate possible disputes and lend a hand if needed.

Bandaid Brigade

The Bandaid Brigade handles the first aid station offering up sunscreen, bug spray and giving out bandaid. We like volunteers to have a basic understanding of basic first aid, but if it requires more than a nap or bandaid we have printed copies of the route to the hospital.

Gate and Education

Volunteers here check IDs, check participants in, have them sign waivers, put their wristbands on and ensures everyone is educated on the rules and our IDEALS.

Effigy and Fire Safety

This group helps set up the effigy on Wednesday before the event starts, helps to fuel the effigy on Saturday night and guard the perimeter while it burns Saturday night so that we keep everyone safe.

Leave No Trace

LNT crew walk the grounds making sure participants are picking up their trash. Remember, our trash is not another's responsibility!

Placement

This is handled by 1 person...but if you have a large theme camp, large art with particular needs and space or just want to see a map of the layout, they are your go to person!!!

Board & Leadership

Board and leadership positions are voted on every few years so if you would like to fill one of those positions, reach out so we can have you shadow current members! All of these groups can be accessed on the discord or on our Facebook page! Now, let's meet our Board!!!

Each group has a short training before they start a shift to ask questions, learn radio protocol and learn what they need.
